Our History

The History department was established in 2008 within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. It admitted its first students in the 2010-2011 academic year. It had its first graduates in 2014. In the 2013-2014 academic year, the History joint graduate education program was opened and started to accept students. In the 2017-2018 academic year, the independent History Postgraduate education program was opened and started to accept students. The History Department PhD program was opened in the 2018-2019 academic year and started accepting students as of 2020.

Our Mission

As the Department of History, we aim to train historians who are knowledgeable in the source languages ​​and can think creatively and intellectually by working on the main sources on Turkish History in particular and World History in general.

Our vision

To raise historians with contemporary, scientific and cultural knowledge who will challenge classical patterns in history education. The historians we trained; Not only conveying professional knowledge in the field; It is aimed to introduce them to the society as people with a historian identity who can produce new information and interpretations in their field. To create a department that makes a name for itself in its region and around the world.
